ihatepeacocks.com needs to clarify some stuff:

We fully support the Occupy Wall Street movement.
We actively take part in the
Occupy Colorado Springs
movement.
And we are doing our part online to help all those across the globe support
#OWS.

We are NOT Anti-Capitalists.
We are NOT Communists.
We are NOT Socialists.
We are NOT Anarchists.

We
are employed.
We
are
taxpaying citizens.
We are the 99%.
We believe in equality.
We are against the amount of control corporations have in our government.
We believe that access to our government shouldn't be paid for.
We believe that our government should help support its people, all of it's people, rich or poor.
We firmly believe that equality shouldn't have a price.

Now, over the past weeks, the media has gone from blackout to frenzy on their coverage of Occupy Wall Street.
Many things have been said about the movement, but these are all opinions.
Very little facts have been portrayed in the news.
If the news tells people it's bad, then they believe it's bad.
These folks repeat whatever ludicrous sound bite the news uses as their "proof" that the movement is evil.
All I can say to this is, turn off your TV's.
Go to the nearest Occupy movement and talk to folks.
Be open minded and go their for discussion.
If you want to go and yell at them about whatever you heard on FOX or NBC the night before, stay home.

The Occupy Wall Street movement has had it's message muddled and reinterpreted or just blatantly distorted over and over again.
Here in Colorado Springs, there is more coverage about the fact protesters could be arrested
for "camping" then there is about the protest itself.
We have a First Amendment Right to protest and as long as we follow the law in doing so,
we can not be lawfully arrested.
So, move past the hype and the misinformation.
If you don't like the Occupy movement, that is OK too.
But don't hate it because you were told to hate it.
The same people that own the media companies that produce the news, ALL of the NEWS on every channel,
are the same people we stand against.

We are the 99% and if you are reading this, you are too.

Just a thought I'd like to share with you...

I have seen many people yell at Occupy protesters “GET A JOB”.
Well, one of the reasons we are out there is because so many are out of work.
We want to see that change. But here is a thought for everyone in America:

Instead of belittling or condemning those who are down on their luck due to the …current state of the economy, we should be doing what we can to help. To simply tell someone “Get A Job” is silly and rude. If they could, they would.
Instead, offer help or assistance. Anything, no matter how small, helps. If nothing else, offering let’s them know that you care and that they are not alone. If you have the means to help someone, you should. This is not some radical “hippie” or “socialist” idea. This is simply common courtesy.
As you can see in the picture [below], we as a country used to be pretty good about it. Let’s try and get good at it again.

Occupy Colorado Springs

Operative X and I were on the street last night.
Lots of good discussion going on. We talked to a lot of folks.
But no talking to the media effective right now.
Many of the local TV stations are making stuff up or blowing things out of proportion
in an effort to sensationalize the possibility of conflict between the protesters and the police.
KKTV 11, YOU ARE THE WORST.
The big "News" story is about how the police are going to arrest "the protesters" because they have set up tents.
I personally don't think this is that big of a deal, but damn if the news doesn't.
Regardless, I think this draws away from the message itself.
Here is what the Gazette posted on their website today, you can see my comments but click the pic to link to the Gazette:

Here is what Operative X has to say about this "Tent" situation:

"The only way anyone should be arrested is if they're doing something illegally. The 'tent law' is a cover - truth is, the rightwingers don't want to have to confront something that makes them uncomfortable...In this case, instead of the homeless, they have to face the truth that this movement, started and maintained by the left, is more dead-on to helping America than anything the Tea Party could ever have done."

KRDO, you kind of suck too. I think your poll is a little bit biased because
IT IS NOT UP TO PUBLIC OPINION on who gets arrested.
Polls like this are just meant to stir people up and serve no journalistic purpose:

Even if arrests are made and the tents come down, we can still stay on the sidewalks 24/7 and continue our Occupation.
You gotta love that little thing called THE FIRST AMENDMENT.

Occupy Colorado Springs

Operative X & I have been going to help as much as we can.
We'd like to get down there more. This week we hope to start stepping it up.
OlmTreeHomeSted came out with us last Friday night.

Occupy Colorado Springs

Operative X and I went downtown last night and did our part to support the Movement.
It was interesting.
There was a dude with a scrub brush & bucket cleaning up all the chalk art peeps had drawn.
This guy was trying to get a rise out of people and he got it from a few.
Shit like that just draws attention away from what we are doing.
Focus people, we have a mission and people like that are just trying to distract us.
IGNORE the haters.

Anyway, I posted this all over Facebook, but I am going to post it again here.....

I've heard a lot today about the Occupy Movement not having a clear or cohesive message.
In response to this, I'd like to quote some things:

"The actual organizing principle of the demonstrations is to speak with moral clarity of the economic inequality of our current system. The purpose is not to attack capitalism but rather an industry whose wealth was guarded to the hilt by government interven......tion — backed up by trillons of dollars of taxpayer money through programs like the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and near-zero interest Federal Reserve lending — a form of government intervention that the banking industry received but millions of foreclosed on homeowners and debt-laden students did not get."
&
"One of the popular viral offshoots of the Occupy Wall Street movement has been the slogan “We Are The 99 Percent” — referring to an economic struggle between 99 percent of Americans and the super-rich 1 percent. Hundreds of Americans have contributed to the We Are The 99 Percent Tumblr. These Americans aren’t Marxist radicals nor are they anti-capitalist ideologues. They, like most Americans, are angry about being squeezed by an unjust economy wrecked in part by Wall Street’s misdeeds."

The quotes above were taken from this article

Now is the Time to Wake Up

THE OCCUPATION CONTINUES

And on the Local Front, the Occupation of Colorado Springs is growing strong:

Watch this video as some Focus on the Family types show up to yell at
the good folks protesting downtown and fail at disrupting the protest.

Why do the Focus on the Family people show up at every protest in this town to protest the protesters?
What does this movement have to do with them or church?
Unless they worship Wall Street & money has become their God.
Regardless, the movement will not be stopped by some
angry guys with a bible shouting non-sense.
THE OCCUPATION CONTINUES TO GROW

Occupy Wall Street / Occupy Colorado Springs

To show solidarity with the folks in New York, Occupations are happening all over the country.
Here in our town, Operative X and I decided to nut up and Occupy Downtown with others from the movement.

This is only the beginning....
